Recycling Information/Projects

 The Milk Carton Project come about in the wake of COVID-19 when our school system took on the task of feeding students using a busing and curbside program.  With the help of Bluebonnet Elementary PTA and a student we created a English and Spanish how to turn your milk carton into a planter flyer and got it out into the community virtually.  
Now the program has been going for over a year and we giving away hundreds of plants in milk cartons! We encourage everyone to reuse and recycle there recyclable items such a milk cartons.   

 Milk Carton Project by Dig Together  Items needed: Milk carton, a nail or screw, and scissors Artículos que necesitan: cartón de leche, clavo o un tornillo, y tijeras  How to turn the carton into a planter: 

1. Open milk carton fully and wash out old milk. Abrir el cartón de leche de arriba completamente y enjuagar con agua.
2. Cut off top of the milk carton at the fold line ( ask someone to help)  Cortar la parte de arriba donde se dobla el cartón (pueden pedir ayuda)
3. Turn over and use screw or nail to put two holes in the bottom. Voltear el cartón y tome el clavo o el tornillo y hagan dos agujeros en la parte de abajo.
4. Turn back over and fill with soil.  Vuelvan a voltear el cartón y llénalo de tierra.
5. Poke a small hole in the dirt with your finger. Con su dedo haga un agujero pequeño en la tierra.
6. Plant a seed ( good household seed are beans as well as seeds dried from jalapenos and tomatoes). Ponga su semilla (buenas semillas de casa serían como de frijoles o semillas secas de jalapeño y tomate)

 How do I recycle cartons?

• Simply empty your cartons and place them in your recycling bin. If your recycling program collects materials as "single-stream," you may place your cartons in your bin with all the other recyclables. If your recycling program collects materials as "dual-stream" (paper items separate from plastic, metal and glass), please place cartons with your plastic, metal, and glass containers.
